EXPENDITURE INCURRED UNDER AFFORESTATION, RLTAP SINCE 1999-2005


ACHIEVEMENTS MADE UNDER RLTAP

1. 17,11,285 mandays generated in last seven years at an average of 2,44,469 mandays per year.
2.62.10 Sq Km of blank forest areas have been treated with planting.
3. 72.95 Sq km of degraded forest areas have been rehabilitated through gap plantations and soil and moisture conservation measures.
4. Forest cover in Nuapara district was 1148 Sq Km in 1999 but the forest cover in 2003 is 1213 sq km, showing an increase of 65 sq km (Ref: FSI - SFR, 1999 AND SFR, 2003.
5. Informal functioning of the VSS were formalised and legalised;  there by 413 number of VSS were registered during the last seven years.
6. 190 number of Vana Samrakshana Samities (VSS)  were created and strengthened exclusively through JFM assistance under the allied components of RLTAP.
7.313 VSS members were trained under JFM and exposure visits were taken up in the neighbouring state of Chhatisgarh and forest divisions.
8. Training programmes for 100 forest staff  were taken up under the HRD programmes under the allied components of the RLTAP.
9. Entry Point Activities (EPA) under the plantation programmes are the main attraction of the people, as it created the assets for the villages.
