Industry:

After formation of separate District Industries Centre, Nuapada with its head-quarter at Khariar Road from Dt.1.1.2000 the scenario of industrial development of the district has taken a momentum with an objective to explore the possibilities for setting up of new industries based upon the available surplus resources, demand factor, existing infrastructure facilities and other support services, the DIC Nuapada is marching ahead with the implementation of the idea of setting up potential industries in the district particularly in Micro & Small Scale sector as well as handicraft sector.

iv) The DIC Nuapada has taken initiative during the year 2003-04 to promote the handicraft and & intropduce new crafts in the district.  At Ist instance, it created awareness among the workers engaged in the rope making activity out of sisal fibre at Jatgarh and motivated them to take skill development training for making different handicraft product e.g. footmat, wall hanging & other decorative product from sisal fibre which is produced abundantly in the Komna Block area.The handicraft development programme are being implemented in the district through RLTAP ,cluster village programme and Employment Mission programme.

v) All the 27 SHGs have been provided with revolving fund(marginmoney) and bank linkage have been made.  405 handicraft artisans involved in 27 SHGs are availing the credit fascilities to run their activities smoothly.  A handicraft society name “Jagannath Hastasilpa Samabaya Samiti” is functioning at Jatgarh and Komna Block.

            The industrial climate in Nuapada district is not much progressive.  There is ample scope of establishing certain agro-based industries, forest based & mineral based industries.  There is no large or medium industries in the district.

            Besides the above 40 ,other uinits have been issued with EM Part-I  since the year 2008-09 till date.  It includes Fabrication Unit, Oil band distemper, Stone Crusher, Rice mills, Bakery Unit, Jewellery Manufacturing and in other service sector units.

Role of DIC :

            .To explore the potentiality and promote the industrial growth of the district in respect of MSME sector and Cottage & handicraft sector.
            . Implementation of Industrial Policy Resolution(IPR) and different developmental programme launched by Government.

                       
Initiative taken for industrial growth:

            DIC Nuapada has prepared an action plan for boosting the industrial growth of the industrial growth of the district.  Director of Industries, Orissa has taken up the prograce for creating awareness and building a healthy atmosphere for industrialization of the district.  Emphasis is being given in the following sector.

            a)         Ancillary & down stream industries.
            b)         Rice Mill cluster for Nuapada district.
            c)         Industries involved in value addition.

District single window: the district single window clearance authority has been constituted with the chairmanship of Collector Nuapda since 19-09-2008.
